Emergence of Fame
نویسنده
چکیده
“Small-memory-large-population” is quite common in many Complex Systems. In order to investigate the effect of small memory size compared to population size, a dynamic model is proposed in which an agent “learns” a new agent by means of recommendation. The agents can also “remember” and “forget” the agents that they know. The memory size is decreased while the population size is kept constant. “Fame” emerged as a few agents become very well known in expense of the majority being completely forgotten. The minimum and the maximum of fame change linearly with the relative memory size. The network properties of the who-knows-who graph, which represents the state of the system, is investigated.

Investigating the Batch and Continuous Transesterification of Linseed Oil by Using a Alkaline Heterogeneous Catalyst in a Packed Bed Reactor
Both the continuous and batch transesterification of linseed oil were examined in order to maximize the fatty acid methyl esters (FAME) yield. The continuous process was conducted in a packed bed reactor using calcium oxide as a heterogeneous catalyst. In addition, the impact of two variables, namely the molar ratio of methanol to oil and the flow rate (ml/min), on the FAME yield were stu...
متن کاملBiodiesel production from soybean oil using ionic liquid as a catalyst in a microreactor
In the present study, Choline hydroxide (ChOH) as an ionic liquid catalyst was used for transesterification of soybean oil into biodiesel in a microchannel reactor. The effects of three variables i.e. reaction temperature, catalyst dosage and total flow rate on fatty acid methyl ester (FAME) content (wt. %) were optimized using Box–Behnken experimental design. In order to predict the FAME conte...
متن کاملFame and the social self: The need to belong, narcissism, and relatedness predict the appeal of fame
The present online survey study (Amazon’s MTurk; n = 371) investigated links between three different social self-concepts (the need to belong, narcissism, and relatedness) and the appeal of fame. We examined fame attitudes using a newly-devised fame appeal scale (yielding three factors: Visibility, Status and Prosocial), as well as with two items probing frequency of fame fantasizing and percei...
متن کاملFame, Facebook, and Twitter: How Attitudes About Fame Predict Frequency and Nature of Social Media Use
Social media (e.g., Facebook, Twitter) offers the opportunity to both enact and respond to public performances of self, as well as to follow and interact with actual public figures. However, to date, we know little about how users’ attitudes about fame intersect with their social media behaviors. The present survey study (Mturk; n 371) investigated links between fame appeal and participants’ Fa...
متن کاملAn interest in fame: confirming the measurement and empirical conceptualization of fame interest.
The following paper introduces and develops the conceptualization of Fame Interest. Study 1 (N=1,978), through the use of factor analysis techniques, introduces the Fame Interest Scale which comprises six dimensions of Fame Interest (intensity, vulnerability, celebrity life-style, drive, perceived suitability, and altruistic) with evidence for the reliability and validity of the scale. Study 2 ...
